I’m chatting with Gary Hardgrave from the 4BC Drive show about Australia’s commitment to pay the UN Climate Change fund $3 billion dollars per annum.
You can download the audio here and listen on itunes.
Some of the issues I discuss with Gary include:
It is presumptuous to think we, (humans) are a match for the sun.
There is no evidence that cyclones or hurricanes are caused by Anthropogenic Global Warming.
The U.N.’s own Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says in its Special Report on Extreme Weather (2012) that there is “an absence of an attributable climate change signal” in trends in extreme weather losses to date.
The U.K. Met Office recently released data showing that there has been no statistically significant global warming for almost 16 years. During this period, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations rose by nearly 9% to now constitute 0.039% of the atmosphere. Global warming that has not occurred cannot have caused the extreme weather of the past few years.
Climate policies therefore need to focus on preparation for, and adaptation to, all dangerous climatic events however caused.
China, India, Russia, Canada, Japan and the USA account for over 63% total global CO2 emissions. Yet these countries have not imposed upon their own citizens a Carbon Tax.
India is planning on 455 new coal power stations and China 363.
The capacity of the new plants add up to 1,400GW to global greenhouse gas emissions, the equivalent of adding another China – the world's biggest emitter.
China and India are ensuring their citizens will have access to cheap power while our political elite are continuing to make life tougher for everyday Australians.
Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t the “cure” sound worse than the problem? A bit like amputating your leg to “cure” your in-growing toe nail?
The following quote by American author H L Mencken best sums up the current AGW state of play:
“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
