I think deep down, it’s the fact that illegal immigrants get 3 hots and a cot while tens of thousands of Australian homeless people don’t is the real reason Labor is politically dead.
Labor has made barely any progress in tackling homelessness in the four years since Kevin Rudd vowed to make the issue a national priority.
A new report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare found about 99,000 people accessed homelessness services in the last quarter of 2011, compared with 105,000 in 2008.
On average, over 18,000 people needed to be accommodated each night, many of them women and children.
Young people also dominated the overall homelessness figure, with 48 per cent under the age of 25 and 18 per cent aged 10 years or under.
In 2008, the then prime minister promised to cut homelessness by 20 per cent by 2013 and 50 per cent by 2020.
Labor claim to have spent billions on homelessness but given their form in spending our money you know that all came to naught.
It is the government of the days’ duty to ensure its citizens and not foreign and especially, illegal immigrants, are the first to be looked after.
Under Labor, Illegals are sweet and Australian homeless is just an unfortunate statistic.
Shame, Labor, shame.
